Drugs operation in Potchefstroom and Klerksdorp nets two suspects and drugs

NORTH WEST – Two suspects aged 34 and 43 are expected to appear before the Klerksdorp and Potchefstroom Magistrate’s Courts respectively following their arrest on Tuesday, 29 March 2022 by the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation.

The team was following up on information regarding drug dealing that was allegedly taking place on Leask Street in Klerksdorp. The suspect was arrested and charged with possession of drugs following his arrest on the same street where a search of his vehicle resulted in the discovery of drugs worth approximately R25 000-00, a small scale and approximately R4800-00 cash. All the items, including the vehicle were seized for further investigation.

Meanwhile on the same day in Potchefstroom, a second suspect was arrested by members of Serious Organised Crime Investigation, assisted by members of Crime Intelligence following a search of his rental apartment where packets of Crystal Meth worth approximately R45 000-00 were found stashed inside the stove oven. He will face charges of dealing and possession of drugs.
