Drug dens closed down, suspects arrested

HEALDTOWN – Two suspects were arrested by Police after they were found with drugs last night in two different Localities at Healdtown.

 

Police were busy with Vuthu Hawe operations when they raided known drugs posts and were in possession of a search warrant. They went to a house in Mlalandle Location in Healdtown and upon searching the house they found drugs hidden in a bag next to the bed.  A 39-year-old male was arrested and charged for dealing in drugs.  They then proceeded to a house in Ngwevu Location and on arrival they searched and found the suspect in possession of mandrax and dagga.  A 44-year-old male was arrested and charged for dealing in drugs.  Police recovered twenty five bompies of dagga, two full mandrax tablets, two halves and four quarters of mandrax tablets and bread plastic full of loose dagga.

 

The duo is expected to appear at Alice Magistrate Court soon.

 

The Acting Amathole District Commissioner Brigadier Ngangema Xakavu applauded the members for ensuring that our citizens are safe and secure and those that sells drugs to our communities are behind bars. He thanked the community in working together with Police in the fight against crime and encouraged them to report any criminal activities to our Crime Stop number 08600 10111.
