JOE GQABI DISTRICT – Members’ continuous efforts to detect and prevent the possession and dealing in drugs yielded positive results over the weekend in separate incidents.
On Frida, 16 September 2022 members of the JGDOCC(Joe Gqabi District operational command Centre) were busy with crime prevention patrols in Aliwal North, Venterstad and surrounding substations when they received positive information of a male suspect in Venterstad selling drugs.
The members proceeded to follow up on the information and found the suspect in possession of a 5g button bag of tik and cash. He was arrested.
Members of the Elliot K9 and Barkly East Mounted unit on special deployment also had the following successes.
On Saturday the 18 September 2022 at about 22:00 the members were on Crime Prevention duties at Mount Fletcher area conducting highway patrols and stop and search, when they received information of a male dealing in drugs, at Nkululekweni locality
The members followed up on the information that was positive, as the members found the drugs in the suspect’s pocket. The 28-year-old suspect was arrested and the following were confiscated:
In the early hours of the next morning at about 03:00 the members were still in the same area and once again received positive information which they followed up.
A 20-year-old suspect was arrested and the following confiscated:
20 small ziplock plastic bags containing Crystal meth.
29 boss mandrax tablets.
The acting District Commissioner, Brig Asogran Naidoo commended the members on the successes. Criminals cannot think that they can continue with this criminal behaviour in our small rural towns.
