Cape town: Public Works and Infrastructure Minister Dean Macpherson will on Tuesday hand over the interim management of the Elands Bay slipway and related harbour facilities to the Cederberg Local Municipality. This handover fulfills a commitment made by Macpherson to the local community during an oversight visit in January this year, as stated by the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure.

According to South African Government News Agency, Macpherson will be accompanied by Western Cape Minister of Infrastructure Tertuis Simmers, Western Cape Minister of Agriculture, Economic Development and Tourism Dr. Ivan Meyer, and Executive Mayor of Cederberg Local Municipality Azrial Scheepers. The handover will be officiated through a Memorandum of Agreement that grants Cederberg Local Municipality interim management responsibility. This agreement empowers the municipality to maintain the facilities and carry out approved repairs, benefiting the local fishing community and small, medium, and micro enterprises (SMMEs).
