WINDHOEK: Members of the Dordabis community have expressed dissatisfaction with the limited services offered by NamPost , which operates only once a week . In an interview with Nampa recently , community spokesperson , Claudine Vries , said residents of the settlement , situated 87 kilometres from Windhoek , as well as residents of Stinkwater ; Blaucharam ; Hasteseman and Ottobeb , have to wait for Tuesdays to access postal services . It also hinders financial transactions as there are no banks in Dordabis and residents do financial transactions through NamPost . ‘ Sometimes we are not able to keep up with payments of our policies because the post office is closed and one must wait for Tuesday ,’ she stressed . Another community member , pensioner Maria Van Rooi , expressed dissatisfaction over NamPost ‘ s service and lack of ablution facilities . ‘ Sometimes pensioners leave without being paid as the post office runs out of money and people have to wait until the next Tuesday . We are being treated like we a
re not people , we are sitting in the sun and on rocks the whole day because there is only one person assisting … There are no toilets either ,’ she stressed . NamPost ‘ s Marketing and Corporate Communications Manager , Gladwin Groenewaldt , on Monday clarified that Dordabis does not have a fully – fledged post office and instead has a service point . He noted that the postal service operates on a smaller scale in some areas . ‘ NamPost is actually doing it for the community . In some areas we serve on a smaller scale , hence the service is not offered on a daily basis , maybe only twice or once a week . It is part of our social responsibility to ensure that there is service in the community that we do business with ,’ he said . Groenewaldt indicated that NamPost will however look into the community ‘ s plea .
