Domestic Worker Dies in Well Accident in Oshikoto Region

OSHIKOTO – A domestic worker aged 34 tragically drowned in a well on Saturday while fetching water.

According to NAMPA, Wynand Neels, who issued a crime update on Monday, the incident occurred when a stick holding the bucket broke, causing it to fall back into the well where the deceased was situated.

Neels reported that after the container fell, the deceased did not respond to calls from individuals outside the well. Upon someone entering the well, the deceased was found submerged and was subsequently pulled out with a rope, but was pronounced dead at the scene.

The body was transported to the Omuthiya Police mortuary, where an autopsy will be performed to determine the official cause of death.
