DNA linkage puts two Port Nolloth rapists behind bars for life

POTCHEFSTROOM – The SAPS Management welcomes the two life sentences handed down to two rapists in the Port Nolloth Magistrates Court, recently.

On 7 January 2020, the 32-year-old female victim was drinking with two men in Sandrift near Alexander Bay. The two men threatened the victim and took turns in raping her.

Dario Joseph (27) and Maxwell Fortuin (31) were arrested the following day.

The accused were successfully linked with their DNA and sentenced to life imprisonment on 17 February 2023.

The Provincial Head for Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences, Brig Sipho Kheswa commended Sgt Shawn Brandt for his meticulous work and thanked Sgt Louw and D/Capt Swanepoel for their assistance in the investigation that led to the outstanding sentences.
