Disruptive operation in the Postmasburg area, operation Vala Konke

KIMBERLEY – A joint team of Highway Patrol and K9 members conducted disruptive operations in the Postmasburg area on Wednesday, 26 October 2022 aimed at stamping down the authority of the state.

Stop and searches including vehicle check-points (VCP) were conducted between 09:00 until 21:00 in Boichoko, Marantheng and Postdene informal settlements respectively. During the operation members confiscated liquor, closed down a shebeen and slapped the owner with a fine for contravention of the Northern Cape Liquor Act. The owner was dealing in liquor from his house without a liquor license. 

In addition the team also put a suspect behind bars, after he was found in possession of crystal meth and cash believed to be the proceeds of drug dealing.

The arrest of the suspect came after the team acted on information regarding a man who was dealing in drugs in Postmasburg. The suspect was found in possession of three zip-lock bags of crystal meth including cash.

Another suspect was arrested subsequent to be found in possession of a dangerous weapon.

A joint vehicle check point was conducted by the Tsantsabane Municipal Traffic Officers , Kimberley Flying Squad and K9 unit was conducted and two motorists were issued with fines amounting to R1 500-00 for contravening the Road Traffic Act. Thirty four (34) vehicles including forty three (43) persons were stopped and searched during the vehicle check points.

Two suspects are expected to appear in the Postmasburg Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 27 October 2022 on charges of dealing in drugs and possession of dangerous weapon.
