GQEBERHA - Detective officers across Nelson Mandela Bay achieved major arrests in special operations carried out in the last 24 hours with special focus on arresting suspects wanted in various cases. The aim of these operations is to ensure that perpetrators are arrested and successfully prosecuted.

A total of 33 suspects were arrested in the Kariega, Despatch, Walmer, Motherwell, Swartkops, Bethelsdorp, Gelvandale and Ikamvelihle policing areas. The suspects were arrested for crimes such as domestic violence, housebreaking, house robbery, drunken driving, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, theft out of motor vehicle and assault. Operations were carried out at different times in each precinct with the earliest starting at 08:00 on Thursday, 24 March 2022 and concluding at 06:00 this morning.

The arrested suspects will appear in their respective courts today and on Monday, 28 March 2022.

The Acting Nelson Mandela Bay District Commissioner, Brigadier Luntu Ngubelanga commended the detective officers for their commitment in ensuring that criminals are arrested and brought to justice. ‘The success of our investigations and prosecution depend largely on the meticulous investigative skills as well as the gathering of crucial evidence to be presented in court to prove our cases beyond reasonable doubt. Criminals are warned that if they try to evade police, we will hunt them down in order to ensure the community’s safety,’ added Brig Ngubelanga.
