BHISHO – The Deputy National Commissioner for Crime Detection, Lieutenant General Liziwe Ntshinga honoured the memorial service for the late Chief Ngangomhlaba Matanzima held at the Eastern Cape House of Traditional Leaders in Bhisho on Monday, 7th March 2022, where she delivered a moving and emotional tribute on behalf of the South African Police Service.
General Ntshinga conveyed SAPS’s deepest and heartfelt condolences to the Kingdom of Abathembu for the sad loss of Nkosi Ngangomhlaba Matanzima, and further comforted Tata Matanzima’s entire family.
Lieutenant General Ntshinga described the passing of this legendary Chief as a heavy loss not only for the nation of AbaThembu, but to the entire community including the South African Police Service in the Eastern Cape. She characterized the late Tata Matanzima as an open-minded man, compatriot and a dignified father who was respected not only in his home, but by the entire nation of South Africa and abroad.
The General provided a beautiful picture to the House of Traditional Leaders of the SAPS Men’s Conference where Chief Ngangomhlaba delivered ground-breaking message which will never fade in the hearts and minds of those who attended the conference, as he spoke power and life to young and old men who saw him as a role model and a replica of the late renowned Tata Madiba Rholihlahla Mandela.
The Deputy National Commissioner concluded by highlighting the significant role played by the late legend on the inception and establishment of the Traditional Policing Concept. “As we learnt about his departure, the SAPS reminisced on the significant role and contribution he made in the planting of the concept of Traditional Policing which was launched right in the land and the Kingdom of Abathembu in Qamata. We will remember him for being a true embodiment of a father, role model to many and a remarkable humble and highly respected servant of the people who upheld high moral standards and integrity in the society. I personally took many lessons from his leadership and fatherhood.”- the General concluded.
