Deputy Minister Capa to preside over NARYSEC Youth Pass-Out Parade at SA Army Gymnasium, Heidelberg, Gauteng
The Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development, Ms Zoleka Capa will on Monday 24 October 2022 preside over a pass-out parade for participants of the National Rural Youth Services Corps (NARYSEC) Programme at the South African Army Gymnasium, Heidelberg, Gauteng.
The pass-out parade follows the department’s re-positioning of the NARYSEC Programme to contribute more meaningfully towards the implementation of the District Development Model, which aims to improve government service delivery.
The NARYSEC Programme also links with the department’s Comprehensive Rural Development Programme (CRDP) in providing a holistic strategy towards developing rural areas, as well as capacitating the youth to become economically active.
The NARYSEC Programme is a youth skills development programme of the DALRRD and is one of the contributions towards alleviating the high levels of unemployment amongst young people in rural areas. Youth are recruited through multi-stakeholder collaborations, and the skills development of the youth is aligned to economic opportunities in a district.
The 312 NARYSEC participants who will be graduating at the SA Army Gymnasium, Heidelberg, have received training focused primarily on community development, leadership development, business awareness, discipline and patriotism. They will continue with their skills development phase at institutions of higher learning, in various fields of study linked to the economic opportunities for which they have been recruited.
