Health Deputy Minister to hold dialogues to strengthen access to health services for young people
The Deputy Minister of Health, Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo will tomorrow (Wednesday, 09 November) interact with young people and learners at Chibini Primary School, Ndwedwe in the iLembe District Municipality, as part of Department of Health`s countrywide campaign to strengthen access to health services for young people.
The Deputy Minister will be accompanied by local government and traditional leaders including the Mayors, and hold dialogues with learners and educators on issues such as the benefits of contraceptive use; teenage and unplanned pregnancy; unsafe and life-threatening abortions; gender-based violence and other social ills facing young people.
The department has established Youth Zones in more than 1500 primary healthcare facilities or clinics as part of efforts to create conducive environment in health facilities for young people to access health services and openly interact with healthcare providers without feeling judged.
