The Deputy Minister of Human Settlements, Pam Tshwete and MEC Jomo Sibiya, together with over eight Deputy Ministers, MECs and Mayors will convene an interdepartmental Community Imbizo to unpack governmental programmes and plans for the Harry Gwala District Municipality (HGDM).
The Community Imbizo will tackle issues related to human settlements, agriculture, safety and security, economic development, water and sanitation, environment and social development. This is part of government interventions aimed at accelerating service delivery through the District Development Model (DDM).
Harry Gwala District is one of the Districts that was affected by floods which caused damage to infrastructure and houses in KwaZulu Natal. Accordingly, the community members are expected to be briefed on the latest developments regarding the provision of housing units to the affected and indigent households through Operation Sukuma Sakhe.
The Delegation will include amongst others the Deputy Ministers from Water and Sanitation, David Mahlobo, Rural Development and Land Reform, Mcebisi Skwatcha, Small Business Development, Sidumo Dlamini, Police, Cassel Mathale, Environment Forestry and Fisheries, Nomsa Hani, Presidency, Pinky Kekana as well as Executive Mayors of Harry Gwala, Cllr Zamokwakhe Nxumalo and Umzimkulu Local Municipality, Cllr Jabulile Msiya.
