Law enforcement agencies in the Pixely Ka-Seme District, increased police visibility on the highways, by-ways and secondary routes as part of Safer Festive Season Operation.
A joint static road block was held on Monday, 13 December 202, on the N12 South near Britstown. During the road block more than fifty vehicles including trucks and light motor vehicles were stopped and searched.
Members conducting the road block, focussed on pamphlet distribution to raise awareness on human trafficking, prostitution of women, young girls, gender based violence and communicating messages of 16 Days Activism of No Violence Against Women and Children.
Foot patrols and crime prevention awareness within the Britstown CBD formed part of high policing visibility, where members interacted with the shop owners and shoppers.
Trucks and vehicles were stopped and searched for illegal transportation of illicit goods, stolen goods and stolen vehicles.
Traffic fines were issued to motorists who transgressed, for driving without valid driver’s licences, un-roadworthy vehicles and over loading.
These disruptive actions will continue throughout and beyond the festive season.
