GQEBERHA – A 60-year-old cyclist was attacked and robbed of his bicycle while out on an early ride this morning in Walmer.
It is reported that at about 05:15, the complainant turned into 4th Avenue when he was accosted by two unknown males who jumped from behind. He fell off his bicycle. It is further alleged that the complainant heard two shots being fired however he was uncertain whether they were from a pistol or a BB gun. The suspects grabbed the bicycle and ran off.
The brave cyclist ran after them and found his bicycle lying in Albert Road. The value of the bicycle is R20 000.
The incident where the robbery took place is not a hotspot for attacks on cyclists.
