Crime intelligence driven operation leads to arrest of five suspects in Lomanyaneng

In a bid to deal with lawlessness in the policing precinct of Lomanyaneng, five suspects were on Thursday, 10 February 2022, apprehended through crime intelligence driven operation by members of Ngaka Modiri Molema District Task Team.

The first three suspects aged 23, 25 and 31 were arrested in Mosiane View for a murder allegedly committed on Friday, 14 January 2022, near Ramasedi Shop in Lomanyaneng. It was reported then that a male person, in his late thirties was found lying dead on the ground. The victim’s half naked body was found with bruises. All three suspects are expected to appear on Monday, 14 February 2022, in the Molopo Magistrates' Court in Mmabatho on a charge of murder.

The team also received and operationalised information about suspicious drug dealing activities at Zoro’s Hostel in Lomanyaneng village. Upon searching a room at the identified place, 13 bags of nyaope and six mandrax tablets were found and seized. A male (28), was arrested for possession of and dealing in drugs.

Furthermore, a search was conducted at a certain house where a 39-year-old man was arrested after the police found a plastic bag containing 120 mandrax tablets and cash.

Both drug related cases suspects are also expected to appear in the Molopo Magistrates' Court on Monday, 14 February 2022, for possession of and dealing in drugs.

The Provincial Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena has extolled the members for their team work that led to the arrest.
