DURBAN – An intelligence operation was conducted on 26 November 2021 by the Pietermaritzburg K9 Unit in the Mountain Rise policing area.
The police officers were following up information about suspects who were transporting counterfeit cigarettes on Willowton Road. They proceeded to the identified area where they spotted two vehicles. The said vehicles were stopped and searched. Upon searching the vehicles, police recovered 20 boxes of Pacific Blue cigarettes, three boxes of Remington Gold and grape flavoured cigarettes.
Three cellphones and two vehicles were seized from the suspects for further investigation. Two suspects aged between 40 and 47 were placed under arrest for possession and dealing in counterfeit goods. The suspects will appear in the Pietermaritzburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday. 29 November 2021.
