The Social Crime Prevention Coordinators, Sergeant Kubaye and Sergeant Mashava together with Young Civilians on Patrol (YCOP) officials, Mr Valentine Hlungwani Nhlamulo and Victim Empowerment Centre (VEP) representative, Mr Hlungwani embarked on a crime awareness campaign at Giyani Central Business District (CBD), Masingita Mall and a local Taxi rank today.

 

Members of the community were sensitized about the following problematic crimes as follows:

 

Gender Based Violence (GBV)

 

Domestic Violence (DV)

 

Burglaries at residential and business premises

 

Theft by false pretence.

 

Shoplifting

 

Theft out of motor vehicle

 

Fraud

 

Malicious damage of essential infrastructures

 

Safety tips at the ATM’S and

 

Covid-19 Regulations Act.

 

The members of the community were also encouraged to report any criminal activities and buying of stolen properties were also strongly condemned.

 

A total number of 750 pamphlets containing crime prevention safety hints were also distributed during one on one interaction with the members of the community.
