The City of Cape Town proposes to add eight new MyCiTi bus stops in Atlantis. Residents and commuters are encouraged to comment on these proposals as from today, 12 September 2022. The closing date for comments is 12 October 2022.
‘The City is continuously monitoring the MyCiTi service to see how we can improve our offering and make it more convenient and safer for commuters. We have received numerous requests from Atlantis residents over the past months for more bus stops in their neighbourhoods. Officials from the Urban Mobility Directorate have investigated these requests and made a list of eight new proposed locations where we can add stops along the existing MyCiTi routes.
‘I encourage residents and commuters, and all other interested parties, to please take note of the proposed locations. Send us your comments; we are eager to hear from you. We are looking for comments from MyCiTi users in particular, because you have direct knowledge and experience of the service,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
‘I want to add that the City will, initially, use temporary poles indicating these stops while we are testing the locations for convenience and safety and operational efficiency. The permanent stops will be built once the locations have been finalised. We do so with all proposed new MyCiTi bus stops across Cape Town so that we spend money on construction only once we are certain of the best possible locations,’ said Councillor Quintas.
