The City of Cape Town proposes to add a new MyCiTi bus stop along Ntlazane Street, serving the D02 route in Khayelitsha. Residents and commuters are encouraged to comment on the proposed location. The closing date for comments is 22 October 2022.
‘The City is continuously monitoring the MyCiTi service to see how we can improve our offering and make it more convenient and safer for commuters. We have received requests from commuters in Khayelitsha for an additional stop along the D02 route. Officials from the Urban Mobility Directorate have investigated the requests and came up with this proposal.
‘I encourage residents and commuters to please take note of the location. Please send us your comments. We are eager to hear from you. We are looking for comments from MyCiTi users in particular, because you have direct knowledge and experience of the service,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
The proposed location is as follows:
Along Ntlazane Street in Khayelitsha, near the corner of Krebe and Mqha Streets
The Ntlazane stop will be located between the existing Kuyasa and Oscar Mpetha MyCiTi stops, serving route D02 Khayelitsha West to the Civic Centre station
‘I want to add that the City will, initially, use a temporary pole indicating the stop while we are testing the location for convenience, safety and operational efficiency. The permanent stop will be built once the location has been finalised. We do so with all proposed new MyCiTi bus stops across Cape Town so that we spend money on construction only once we are certain of the best location,’ said Councillor Quintas.
