Community assistance leads to apprehension of alleged bussiness robbers

Participation of the public in the fight against crime paid off when two suspects, aged 21 and 24 were on Thursday, 27 August 2021, apprehended by members of the community at Extension 1, Boitekong for their alleged involvement in a business robbery.

That was after the duo allegedly threatened the owner of a tuck shop with a knife and robbed him of cash, a cellular phone and gambling machine. Through assistance of members of the community, the suspects were arrested shortly after the incident and handed over to the police. They are expected to appear before the Rustenburg Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 30 August 2021 on a charge of business robbery.

The Provincial Commissioner of North West, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena commended community members for their active involvement in apprehending the pair and handing them over to the police without any harm. He elaborated that the police cannot solve crime successfully without the participation of law abiding citizens.
