The City of Cape Town wants to inform residents and all road users of partial road closures in the Elsies Industria area over the next month due to a road resurfacing project. The work will take place between 4 July and 11 August 2022.
The road sections to be resurfaced over the next month include :
• Botha Street from Voortrekker Road to End Street
• De Wet Street from Voortrekker Road to End Street
• Malherbe Street from Cloete Street to End Street
• Socony Road from De Wet Street to Malherbe Street
• Stark Street from Jagger Road to End Street
• Tygerberg Road from Jagger Road to End Street
• Zelda Road from Jagger Road to Socony Road
The work will take place at night from Monday to Sunday between 18:00 and 07:30.
The City’s Road Infrastructure Management Department will be milling the existing road and replacing it with new asphalt road surface. This work forms part of regular maintenance to prolong the longevity of the city’s road network
‘Elsies Industria is an important industrial area within Cape Town. The roads carry a high volume of traffic every day. Thus, the rehabilitation work over the next month will improve its condition and lifespan and improve the travel experience for all road users. We would like to thank businesses and residents in the area in advance for their cooperation, and we ask for their patience as we attend to this project. Congestion is expected, so it is recommended that road users consider alternative routes,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
Residents from surrounding residential areas can expect a level of noise pollution during this time.
Work areas will be demarcated to regulate traffic flow, and to assist pedestrians.
