The City of Cape Town’s Social Development and Early Childhood Development Department hosted 140 children today, on World Children’s Day.
The children, aged five and six, from the 37 City-owned ECD facilities, visited the Green Point Park where they were taught about the role they can play in mitigating climate change.
The theme this year is ‘Re-imagining the future without climate change’.
The outcomes for this event are the following :
To celebrate the importance of South African children and all children across the world
To raise climate change awareness among young children
To empower children with the different roles they can play to save the environment
To create an interest in children to care, protect and save the environment
To empower children to see that they are part of the solution and can make a real difference in saving the environment.
To create a day filled with fun and learning
