Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis this afternoon hosted the Momentum Proteas Women’s team at the City Hall following the national cricket team’s impressive performance at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
The Mayor, along with Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security Alderman JP Smith, Deputy Minister of Sport, Arts & Culture Nocawe Mafu, Cultural Affairs and Sport MEC Anroux Marais and Cricket South Africa representatives congratulated the team on their incredible run in the international cricket tournament.
The final game between the Proteas Women and Australia at Newlands Cricket Ground attracted the biggest crowd ever for a women's cricket match in South Africa with 13 001 spectators.
