City advises of water supply disruptions in Welcome Glen, Da Gama Park and Klein Constantia

The Water and Sanitation Department is attending to a pipe burst on the 250mm diameter water supply main to Welcome Glen and Da Gama Park. The repairs involve working in uneven mountainous terrain. Another pipe burst occurred on the 300mm diameter water main to Klein Constantia, which requires the use of a mechanical excavator. Due to the current workload, it will be attended to tomorrow morning. Both instances necessitated that the water supply to these areas be shut off to enable the work to be done safely as well as to prevent water loss and/or damage.

‘This has resulted in the temporary disruption in the water supply to these areas until the repairs are completed.

‘We consider the impact on residents and possible water losses carefully when we do infrastructure maintenance and repair work. The duration of the repairs, especially emergency repairs, is however dependent on the complexity of the task at hand and I ask residents to please exercise patience while the maintenance crew attends to the repairs,’ said Councillor Zahid Badroodien, Mayoral Committee Member for Water and Sanitation.

Residents are kindly requested to ensure that all taps are closed to prevent water loss and/or damage when the supply is restored.

A tanker is being sent to Welcome Glen and thereafter to Klein Constantia to provide water for domestic consumption where required

The City regrets any inconvenience caused, but it is imperative that it maintains its water supply infrastructure to benefit its consumers.
