The City’s Water and Sanitation Directorate will shut off the water supply main to the Haasendal area from 20:00 on Thursday, 7 April 2022 until 05:00 on Friday, 8 April 2022 to enable the maintenance crew to safely do a temporary alteration to the pipeline. This work involves installing a temporary bypass on the water supply main to connect the shopping mall to the water supply network, which involves more detailed work. The temporary bypass will be removed again a week later, requiring the water supply to be shut off once again at 20:00 on Thursday, 14 April 2022 until 04:00 on Friday, 15 April 2022. This work will on both occasions result in the disruption of the water supply to the Haasendal area.
Installing the temporary bypass on the water supply main will provide sufficient time for the new connection, which involves more detailed work, to proceed uninterrupted for the required period without disrupting the water supply to Haasendal.
Careful consideration has been given to this work to ensure minimal disruption to the residents.
Residents are kindly advised to store water upfront in clean, sealed containers for domestic use during this period and also to ensure that their taps are closed to avoid water loss and/or damage when the supply is restored.
The City regrets any inconvenience caused, but it is imperative that it upgrades and maintains its water supply infrastructure to benefit its consumers.
