City advises of water supply disruption in the Wingerd area, Somerset West

The City’s Water and Sanitation Department will be doing emergency repairs on the water supply main to the Wingerd area in Somerset West on Tuesday, 15 February 2022. This work which will commence at 07:00 involves the replacement of a severely leaking pipe section of the water main that supplies the reservoir for the area. Read more below:

The water supply to the reservoir will be shut off to enable the maintenance team to do the repairs unhindered and safely.

The water leak has unfortunately impacted the filling of the reservoir to the extent that water supply to the residents in the area will be disrupted during the repairs.

Residents are kindly requested to store water upfront for domestic use while the repairs are being done and to keep their taps closed during this period to prevent water loss and / or damage when the water supply is restored.

The City sincerely regrets any inconvenience caused. However, it is imperative that it maintains its water supply infrastructure to the benefit of its consumers.
