City advises of water supply disruption in Heldervue, Somerset West

The Water and Sanitation Directorate will be tying in a newly installed pipeline to the existing water supply main along Steynsrust Road in the Heldervue area from 09:00 until 16:00 on Wednesday, 17 August 2022. This will result in the disruption of the water supply to the area. The shut off of the water supply to these areas will enable the work to be done safely in the shortest possible time as well as prevent water loss and/or damage.

Careful consideration has been given to the planning of this tie-in.

'We consider the impact on residents and possible water losses carefully when we do infrastructure maintenance, repairs and upgrades. This work forms part of the City's water pipeline replacement programme, which addresses the replacement of water supply infrastructure in accordance with set criteria. The maintenance crew will attend to the pipe replacement in the shortest possible timeframe,' said Councillor Zahid Badroodien, Mayoral Committee Member for Water and Sanitation.

Consumers are kindly requested to store water upfront in clean, sealed containers for domestic consumption and ensure that all taps are closed to prevent water loss and/or damage when the supply is restored.

A water tanker will be located at the corner of Steynsrust and Old Stellenbosch Roads in Heldervue to provide water for domestic consumption where required.

The City sincerely regrets any inconvenience caused, but it is imperative that it maintains its water supply infrastructure to benefit its consumers.
