City advises of water supply disruption in Eerste River and surrounding areas

The City of Cape Town’s Water and Sanitation Department is planning to shut down the water supply to Eerste River and surrounding areas, on Wednesday, 9 February 2022 from 08:00 until 20:00. This twelve-hour shut down will allow for a contractor to lay pipes under our water reticulation network.

As part of the City’s expansion, a bulk sewer main pipe is being constructed for a new housing development in Eerste River. This affects the water infrastructure, requiring that the water be shut off as planned.

The following areas will be affected by the water supply disruption, which is expected to start at 08:00 until 20:00 in Eerste River, Devon Park, Beverly Park, High Places, Stratford Green, Heather Park, The Wines, Gill Cape, Russel’s Rest, Beverly Estate security complex, Cabernet Terraces, Sillwood Heights, Alpine Mews, Forest Glade, Penhill and Forest Village.

Stand pipes will be available at the following locations:

• 70 Pinetree Way

• 48 Pinetree Way

• 30 Pinetree Way

• 229 Bobsway Way

• 215 Stratford Street

Water tankers will be parked/roaming as needed in areas

• Delft - Spar (old Pick ‘n Pay Centre) area parking space

• Kendle - corner of Beverly and Warwick Streets

• Shudley - Penhill Main/Laurimer Road

Careful consideration has been given to the planning of this work to ensure minimal disruption to the water supply in the affected area. Residents will not have access to the water supply due to the closed supply point.

Residents are advised to store water in clean, sealed containers for use during this period and to ensure that their taps are closed to avoid water loss and/or damage when the supply is restored.

The City regrets any inconvenience caused.
