City advises of water supply disruption in Browns Farm and Philippi

The City’s Water and Sanitation Department will be conducting a test shut-down to prepare for maintenance on a faulty valve on the Faure bulk water supply line for Browns Farms and Philippi.  The test will take place on Friday, 28 January 2022 from 10:00 until 16:00.

Residents are advised that a test shutdown will be conducted on the 1830mm diameter Faure bulk water pipeline on Friday, 28 January 2022 from 10:00 until 16:00.

This test run is in anticipation of planned maintenance on 11-13 February 2022, when the replacement of a faulty isolation valve will be performed.

Areas affected by the shutdown, during both periods, will include the Browns Farm and the Philippi area. Residents can expect a reduction in the water pressure or the possible disruption to their water supply due to the shutdown.

Residents are advised to prepare by storing water in clean, sealed containers in advance, and ensure that their taps are left in the closed position during this period to prevent any water loss and/or water damage when the supply is restored.  A water tanker will be on standby in the area to provide water, where required, for domestic use.

The City regrets any inconvenience caused, but it is imperative that it maintains its water supply infrastructure to benefit its consumers.
