The City’s Water and Sanitation Directorate will be shutting down its Blackheath Water Treatment Plant from 08:00 on Monday, 22 August 2022 until 08:00 on Thursday, 25 August 2022. This shutdown will provide the opportunity for urgent maintenance to be done at the water treatment plant as well as to install 1500mm diameter flow meters on the raw water inlet to the plant and on the outlet from the plant.
No water supply disruptions are anticipated within the boundaries of the City as a result of this shutdown because the bulk water supply network is fairly integrated and has the capability and capacity to reroute water to the Blackheath supply areas.
The Stellenbosch municipality has been informed of the shutdown and the impact because it receives water from the Blackheath bulk water supply main.
The City sincerely regrets any inconvenience caused, but it is imperative that it maintains and enhances its bulk water infrastructure to the benefit of its consumers.
