City advises of low water pressure or possible water supply disruption in the Bloekoembos and Kraaifontein areas

The City of Cape Town’s Water and Sanitation Department will be doing critical maintenance at the Wemmershoek Water Treatment Plant from 07:00 on Wednesday, 8 December until 07:00 on Thursday, 9 December 2021. This urgent work will require that the plant be shut down during this period, to enable the work to be done safely.

The City has planned to reduce the impact of the critical maintenance work on consumers as far as possible. This includes filling the reservoirs supplied by the Wemmershoek Water Treatment Plant to maximum capacity in advance. Consumers in the Bloekoembos and Kraaifontein areas may, however, still experience slightly lower-than-usual pressure on the day. They are also kindly requested to reduce their consumption during this period.

Residents in these areas are requested to reduce their water consumption for the duration of the shutdown.

The Drakenstein and Stellenbosch municipalities have been informed regarding the impact of the Wemmershoek water treatment plant because they are supplied from the Wemmershoek bulk water pipeline.

The City sincerely regrets any inconvenience caused, but it is imperative that it maintains its water treatment infrastructure to enable the sustainable supply of good quality drinking water.
