Cash-in-transit robbery suspects nabbed and charged with murder and armed robbery

GAUTENG – Three men aged 25 and 30 are expected to appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court today facing charges of murder and armed robbery.

It is alleged that on 25 February this year, unknown men attacked the G4S security guards at a supermarket in Olivenhoutbosch, west of Pretoria. The suspects shot and fatally wounded the crew and fled with the safety cash deposit box with an undisclosed amount of money.

During the preliminary investigation, police found the safety cash deposit box abandoned not far from the crime scene in Olivenhoutbosch.

A multi-disciplinary approach driven operation was conducted by the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation in Pretoria together with the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD), Special Law Enforcement Unit (SLEU), Tracker, Tactical Operations Management Services (TOMS), and ER24 in Olivenhoutbosch on Monday evening.

Authorities successfully traced the positively linked suspects at their Olivenhoutbosch residence and apprehended them. The trio was subsequently charged with murder of the G4S security guard and armed robbery.

At one of the suspects’ residence, police seized electric gadgets together with a pistol magazine and ammunition for further investigation.

Outstanding suspects are sought.
