ZWELITSHA – A police media briefing preceded criminal court proceedings of six men linked to Zingqolweni murder cases that occurred between December 2020 and July 2021. The cases were postponed to 06 April 2022 for a bail application.
The Deputy Provincial Commissioner for Crime Detection, Major General Zithulele Dladla represented the Provincial Commissioner during a media briefing that was held at Lady Frere Police Station to take the media and communities through the investigation processes including the six men nabbed.
“As SAPS management we understood the urgency of the need to effect arrests in the cases we handled. We also understood the traumatic experiences that the affected families and community of Zingqolweni had to go through resulting from the unwarranted and callous murders and torture of innocent village elderly people"
"I am pleased to announce here that after a long drawn out process of investigation, the SAPS in the Eastern Cape has managed to arrest the six suspects who are associated with Ezingqolweni murder incidents, added Maj Gen Dladla.
Subsequent to the media briefing, the six men aged between 19 and 68 briefly appeared in the Cacadu Magistrate's Court on charges of murder. The matter was postponed to Wednesday, 06 April 2022 for a bail application.
