WINDHOEK — The Capricorn Group has donated N$500,000 to Namibia’s Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism, supporting the country’s participation in the upcoming COP28 conference in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
According to Namibia Press Agency (NAMPA), the donation was a joint effort between the Capricorn Foundation and Bank Windhoek, aimed at facilitating Namibia’s engagement at the conference scheduled from 30 November to 12 December 2023. Ruan Bestbier, Capricorn Group Head for Sustainability, emphasized the significance of the sponsorship, viewing it not just as financial support for a climate change event, but as an investment in creating a platform for Namibian engagement with global stakeholders. This initiative is part of the group’s broader commitment to driving collaborative action between public and private sectors for a sustainable and resilient Namibian economy and world. Marlize Horn, Executive Officer of the Capricorn Foundation, mentioned that sustainability is a key focus for the foundation, highlighting their food security initiatives, including the Capricorn Foundation Food Waste Challenge.
