Cape Town is proud to be named host city for the 2023 T20 Women’s World Cup

Statement by Cape Town Mayor, Geordin Hill-Lewis

The City of Cape Town is proud to be named as one of the host cities for the upcoming T20 Women's World Cup, this once again confirms our city as one of the best to host international sporting events.

The announcement was made this afternoon by Cricket South Africa.

In 2020, the International Cricket Council announced that South Africa will host the first T20 Women's World Cup on African soil from 10 to 26 February 2023.

Cape Town's inclusion as a host city is a glowing endorsement and confidence in our ability to host successful major international events.

Our officials look forward to working with Cricket South Africa and the International Cricket Council to ensure that we put together a memorable tournament for cricket lovers.

The City is proud to play host to another first African World Cup celebrating women's sport, as this event as well as the 2023 Netball World Cup will be hosted in Cape Town next year.

As three-time World's Leading Festival and Event Destination, Cape Town is looking forward to showcasing its expertise, the world famous 'gees' and excellent infrastructure for the pinnacle of women's T20 tournaments.

Last year, the International Cricket Council announced South Africa as co-host of the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup alongside Zimbabwe and Namibia.
