Cabinet Congratulates Namibian President-Elect Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah.

Cape Town: Cabinet has congratulated the Namibian President-elect Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah for securing a victory in the Namibian Presidential election and becoming the first female President of the country.

According to South African Government News Agency, during a media briefing earlier on Thursday, following a Cabinet meeting in Cape Town, Minister in the Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni commended the people of Namibia for coming out in their numbers to vote in the elections. She also called on everyone to allow the Electoral Commission of Namibia the necessary space to finalize the results of the Presidential and National Assembly elections.

The Electoral Commission of Namibia reported being overwhelmed by the high number of voters who turned out to cast their votes. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, a 72-year-old veteran of the South West Africa People’s Organisation, was among those who voted, casting her ballot in the capital, Windhoek. The polling stations, despite being located in a sparsely populated country,
saw long queues as citizens participated in the electoral process.
