Pretoria: Cabinet has commended the Department of Basic Education and the Class of 2024 on the successful conclusion of the 2024 National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations. The 2024 matric class completed their final exams on 27 November 2024 after a five-week exam period.
According to South African Government News Agency, Minister in the Presidency, Khumbudzo Ntshavheni, at a media briefing on Thursday said government had set up 181 marking centres across the country which have been audited and deemed ready. She said the national matric results would be announced on 13 January 2025, with provincial education departments releasing their results on 14 January 2025. The Minister was briefing the media on the outcomes of the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, 4 December 2024.
Last month, Basic Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube expressed her gratitude to the people involved in the delivery of successful final examinations. Gwarube commended teachers, officials, parents, and all stakeholders for ensuring smooth a
nd credible matric examinations. ‘Your dedication and hard work have been instrumental in ensuring a smooth and credible examination process. Together, we are building an education system that upholds the values of fairness, integrity, and excellence,’ Gwarube said at the time.
