Business robbers caught with stolen items

On Friday, 12 November 2021 from 14h00 until midnight, a multi-disciplinary intelligence driven operation was conducted in Pongola to curb crime in the area.

 

At 21:00 a report of a business robbery taking place at a shop in Godlwayo area was received.

 

The team swiftly reacted and immediately proceeded to the area. Information about the suspects was received which led the team to a homestead where suspects were hiding. On arrival at the house two suspects were found smoking dagga outside the house. The suspects ran away and a chase ensued. Both were arrested not far from the house. A search inside the house was further conducted and six other suspects were found and arrested. Three pistols with their serial number filled off and ten live rounds of ammunition were recovered.

 

All items that were stolen during the robbery were recovered. Two vehicles that are suspected to have been used during robbery were impounded for further investigation.

 

The suspects aged between 28 and 38 were arrested and taken to the Pongola police station for further processing. They will appear in the Pongola Magistrates Court on Monday 15 November 2021 facing charges for unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition as well as possession of stolen property, possession and dealing in dagga as well as robbery.
