Burglar sentenced to effective fifteen years direct imprisonment

The De Aar Regional court sentenced Alvin Kruger (27) to effective 15 years direct imprisonment on charges of business burglary and malicious damage of property on Tuesday, 30 November 2021.

 

Kruger was arrested in March 2021 by the Noupoort SAPS whilst he was busy attempting to load explosives into Standard bank ATM. The case was referred to the Kimberley Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation team for further probing which culminated in the conviction and sentence of Kruger.

 

Kruger made a series of court appearances wherein he ultimately pleaded guilty and was sentenced to six years imprisonment for attempted business burglary and fifteen years imprisonment for malicious damage of property. Both sentences have been ordered to run concurrently

 

The Provincial Head of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, Major General Kholekile Galawe applauded the investigating team and the Prosecuting Authorities for the great conviction.
