The City of Cape Town’s Road Infrastructure Management Department is commencing with the resurfacing of various roads in Boston, Bellville. The roadworks are scheduled to take place as from today, 31 August 2022 to 30 September 2022, if all goes as planned.
The City will be resurfacing the following roads in Boston:
• Lincoln Street between Voortrekker Road and 3rd Avenue
• 3rd Avenue between Lincoln Street and Boston Street
• Boston Street between Frans Conradie Drive and 14th Avenue
• 14th Avenue between Boston Street and Cleveland Street
The existing road surfaces of these roads will be milled and replaced with a new asphalt road surface. In addition, 3rd Avenue will receive two new gravel layers that will be constructed prior to the final resurfacing asphalt layer. Residents and businesses in the area can expect some noise pollution during this time.
'I am glad to hear Boston is receiving this important maintenance work and I am looking forward to seeing the end product. Commuters are advised to be cautious and to slow down when approaching the areas where work is underway. It is recommended that road users consider alternative routes if possible. As always, we apologise for any inconvenienced experienced over the next few weeks and thank residents for their patience,' said the City's Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
This work forms part of regular maintenance to prolong the longevity of the city's road network and will take place from Monday to Friday between 07:30 and 17:30. Weekend work will only occur if need be.
