Bogus doctor sentenced for contravening the Health Professions Council of South Africa Act

MPUMALANGA –Dr Fremborg (71) pleaded guilty and sentenced by the Emalahleni Magistrate Court on Tuesday, 03 February 2020 for Contravention of Health Professions Act.

The sentence followed an undercover operation which was conducted at the surgery in Witbank whereby the suspect was found and arrested together with his receptionist Zanele Masondo in October 2018. During investigation it was discovered that the doctor was dispensing medicines without the necessary license.

Dr Fremborg was sentenced to twenty four (24) months imprisonment or twelve thousand rand (R12,000,00) half suspended for five (5)  years on condition that he is not convicted of the same offence during the period of suspension. The case against Zanele Masondo was postponed to 18 February 2022 for Attorney and possible plea.

The Provincial Head for the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation Maj General Zodwa Mokoena welcome the sentence and applauded all the role players for their dedication.
