NORTHERN CAPE – Today, 03 November 2021, the Provincial Head of the FCS unit in the Northern Cape, Brig Nicky Mills handed over an early Christmas gift to an elderly granny who was raped in June 2020 in Siyathemba in Kathu.

A wheelchair was donated by the Chara’s Cares charity recently to the 78-year-old blind granny to improve her mobility and living conditions especially when she has to visit the local clinic for medical treatment.

A 31-year-old male was arrested for the rape and is currently in custody.

Brig Mills accompanied by the Investigating officer, D/Sgt Boikanyo Pilane visited the home of the blind victim who lives with relatives to hand over the wheelchair.

The emotional granny prayed for the members and also praised them for the generous and valuable gift that will allow her to move around more freely.

Brig Mills stated that although this kind gesture will improve the quality of the victim’s living condition, the scars of the heinous attack will forever be remembered by her.

He also in the absence of Chara’s Cares extended his sincere gratitude and appreciation for this noble and generous donation made by the charity.
