Beware of criminals on social media

FREE STATE – A case of robbery is under investigation after a woman was robbed of her belongings by an unknown man she met on social media.

The woman alleges that she met with the man who called himself “Donald” near a High School on the 03 October 2021 at about 08:30 in Welkom.

The two were chatting to each other when suddenly the man snatched her handbag and belongings and ran away. His cellphone number is always on voice mail and was never seen since.

The Police would therefore like to warn the community about social media platforms where criminals lure unsuspecting victims and ultimately rob them.

For the sake of personal safety, one should never reveal their full identity document number, home address or phone numbers because criminals can make use of every opportunity to commit crimes. Never make arrangements to meet with strangers at secluded areas.
