Bergville man in court nabbed with firearm and stolen property

DURBAN – Yesterday, Bergville police received information about a male that was seen in possession of suspected stolen property.

The said male was traced in the alley near Farmlee Save in Bergville. Upon searching him, he was found in possession of a duvet, wallet containing several cards, cash and an identity document that belonged to another person. He was also found in possession of an amplifier that he was trying to sell in the area.

Police also searched him further and he was found in possession of a revolver with two rounds of ammunition that he concealed under his jacket. A 30-year-old suspect was placed under arrest for unlawful possession of a firearm, ammunition as well as possession of stolen property. He is appearing before the Bergville Magistrates Court this morning.
