Abidjan: The Basketball Africa League (BAL) and Wave C´te d'Ivoire have unveiled a newly renovated basketball court at 4 Paniers in the Yopougon district of Abidjan. This initiative is part of their collaboration to bring communities in C´te d'Ivoire and Senegal closer to the game and aligns with NBA Africa's commitment to build or renovate 1,000 basketball courts across the continent over the next decade.

According to African Press Organization, the court was unveiled by Wave C´te d'Ivoire General Manager Katier Bamba and BAL Head of League Operations Ruben Boumtje-Boumtje. The ceremony at Yopougon 4 Paniers was followed by a basketball clinic for 50 boys and girls aged 16 and under from local schools, as well as a U-23 3-on-3 tournament for male and female players.

Boumtje-Boumtje emphasized the impact of the renovation project, stating that it represents a commitment to empowering the youth of Africa. The collaboration with Wave includes hosting tournaments and creating safe spaces for young players, which aims to leave a lasting impact in C´te d'Ivoire and Senegal.

Bamba highlighted Wave's mission to support community development, noting that the project is not just about court renovation but also about building confidence and inspiring future generations. Basketball is seen as a powerful tool for community connection and growth.

Since the collaboration began in March 2025, the BAL and Wave have organized "Tournoi des Quartiers" basketball tournaments in Abidjan and Dakar with a 1,000,000 CAF prize for each winning team. Additionally, they sponsored an all-expenses paid trip for Reine Esther Yao from the U-18 C´te d'Ivoire Women's National Team to attend the 2025 BAL Finals in Pretoria, South Africa.
