Baby drowns in bucket in Tsumeb

A nine-month-old girl allegedly died by drowning in a bucket at the Kuvukiland residential area in Tsumeb.

According to a crime report issued on Monday by the Namibian Police Force Oshikoto Regional Commander, Commissioner Teopoline Nashikaku, the incident happened on Sunday at around 11h00.

Annalisa Shihepi was left in the sitting room by the mother with other relatives that were watching television and went outside to rake the yard.

“The deceased’s grandmother found the baby drowned in the 20-litre bucket of water that was in the kitchen. They took the child to Tsumeb State Hospital where she was declared dead by the doctor,” reported Nashikaku.

The next of kin are informed.

The body is at the Tsumeb Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem and investigations continue.
