The Durban Central Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit is pleading for assistance from the community to solve a rape and robbery cases. The person in the attached identikit will assist the FCS Unit detectives with the cases they are investigating.
It is alleged that on 20 April 2021 at 18:30, a 21-year-old woman was walking along Umhlanga Ridge Road returning from her place of employment. She had apparently used the foot path from Ridge Road that was a shortcut which passes through a little bushy area, heading to the taxi rank nearby to board a taxi. The complainant alleged that an unknown man appeared from behind her while she was in a secluded bushy area and attacked her by pulling her with a rope and dragged her down by the neck. It is alleged that the suspect called out for his accomplice who also appeared and joined them. The victim was dragged inside the bush by the first suspect and raped her while the second suspect kept guard near the foot path for anyone who might pass.
The victim’s belongings such as cellphone and cash were also taken by the suspects. The whereabouts of both suspects are unknown.
