Assistance will be given to several children in Ashong for their education in the 2024/25 academic year. With funds raised nation wide by youths of Ashong, a community located in Momo Division of the North West region.
For the past eight years, education in the locality has almost been haulted by the ongoing socio-political instability. Community schools now function with inadequate didatic material sufficing the funds as stated by the Ashong Youth president, Barrister Acha Macklean.
‘Education is the future of a child. The three community schools lack pedagogic materials. The parents cannot afford school needs for the children. Raising funds for education will go a long way to secure the future of our kin back home,’ Acha Macklean said.
The highly cultural animated event spanding two days, July 26 and 27 gave room also for reunion, cultural exhibition and showcase of Ashong Youths. Holding under the theme, ‘Together for a better Ashong’, the youths received the challenge to bolster their native home.

ong is one of 22 villages that make up the Batibo Sub Division. With an estimated population of over 25,000 inhabitants. It is the largest village in Batibo with 3 third-class chiefdoms under it, which are; Njen, Kon and the Mbororo.
The Fon of Ashong is HRH MC Mbafor III. He is described as the architect of modern Ashong. From his enthronement in 1999, Ashong has experienced a very rapid growth in terms of social amenities. Today it boast of seven primary and two Secondary Schools including GHS Ashong, and GBHS Wumdeng Ashong.
The main economic activities of the inhabitants are trade and agriculture.
Ashong has two health facilities which are Integrated Health Center Mbemi Ashong and the Medicalized Health Center Wonyam Ashong. Ashong is partially electrified and depends largely on the efforts of the youths to foster development.
