Anti-Gang Unit arrest suspect with firearm and drugs

GQEBERHA  – Anti-Gang Unit members in Gqeberha arrested  a 36-year-old Kamesh man yesterday, 26 January 2022,  and detained him on charges of possession of a prohibited firearm, illegal possession of ammunition and dealing in drugs.

It is alleged that at about 10:30, a search warrant was executed at a house in Thunzi Street, Joe Slovo in Kamesh. On searching the premises, a 9mm pistol (serial number filed off) and 2 rounds of ammunition was found in a cupboard in the bedroom. Police also confiscated, dagga, tik, tik bulbs and mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R30 000-00.

The suspect was arrested and detained on the respective charges. He is expected to appear in the Kariega Magistrate’s Court soon.
